A Texas woman never expected her evening food delivery to turn into a nightmare. The streets were dark, but that wasn’t what made her heart race. It was the DoorDash driver’s request for a change of pickup location that gave her the chills. What should have been a simple order quickly became a tense, unsettling ordeal. The kind that makes anyone freeze and wonder if they’re about to walk straight into danger.

The customer had a perfectly ordinary order, but the driver insisted on a meeting far from the safety of the building entrance. “I don’t mind meeting dashers at the entrance to our building, but the dasher wanted me to meet them completely down the street in a dark area I did not feel comfortable walking to,” the Texan shared in their online post.

Despite attempts to reason with the driver, the situation escalated. Instead of accommodating the customer’s concern, the driver marked the order as delivered and threatened to leave entirely. To make matters worse, DoorDash’s app denied a refund or replacement. “I even gave a $10 tip,” the customer added, frustrated.

Texas DoorDash Delivery Driver Went Too Far

Reddit commenters quickly picked up on a disturbing detail. The account was listed under a feminine name. Unfortunately, online horror stories have shown that some drivers, mostly male, can exploit this by pretending to get lost. This then prompts female customers to venture into unsafe areas. The original poster confirmed the account was under their girlfriend’s name, prompting suggestions to change it immediately to prevent future issues.

Safety should always come first. In this day and age, it is not just a precaution. It could mean the difference between life and death. If a delivery driver asks you to meet them in an unusual location, especially in the dark or away from well-lit, public areas. Absolutely refuse politely and immediately.

Contact the delivery platform’s support line and document the interaction in writing within the app. Avoid giving any personal information or leaving your property unless you are certain the situation is legitimate. Your safety is worth more than a meal.

Trust Your Instincts

Many commenters praised the Texas resident for standing their ground. The incident is a chilling warning that even routine tasks like ordering food can spiral into something unsafe if boundaries aren’t respected. The takeaway is simple but essential: never compromise your safety, no matter the excuse.

Rule number one. Never go to a second location, ever,” cautions one Redditor.

This just didn’t feel right. It’s so sketchy they couldn’t meet out front,” another writes.

What’s really going on here? What was he trying to pull? So scary!” one more adds.

In Texas or anywhere else, if a delivery driver tries to manipulate you into a dark alley or secluded spot, it’s a red flag. Trust your instincts, report the behavior, and ensure the platform is aware. Dinner delivery isn’t worth risking your life.
