A grieving woman in Nebraska is searching for answers after a series of unsettling moments at home left her questioning whether she should feel comforted. Or terrified. Still mourning the loss of her mother several months after her death, she says something deeply strange has been happening around her house, and the incidents have left her emotionally rattled.

What began as a simple security notification has slowly turned into something she cannot easily explain. The woman shared her experience on TikTok after noticing a disturbing pattern with her home security camera. According to her, every time someone has visited her home in recent days, her camera sends two alerts.

One says: “Unfamiliar face seen.” And the other says: Mom seen. That would be unsettling enough on its own. But her mother passed away more than nine months ago.

Nebraska Woman Gets Camera Alert She Never Expected to See Again

At the beginning of her video, the woman sits in her car and tells viewers she simply needs someone else to hear and see what has been happening. Because she feels too unsettled to keep it to herself. She explains that her driveway camera is programmed to recognize familiar faces.

For example, her son Jack is registered in the system, so whenever he walks outside, the alert says: Jack seen. Her mother had also been saved in the camera’s facial recognition system when she was still alive and regularly visited the house. Back then, the notifications made sense. Now they do not.

What has the woman most on edge is that the alerts are no longer happening only when someone is there. She says her camera has started sending notifications that her mother is in the driveway, even when there is no visible movement outside at all.

No visitors. No obvious trigger. Just another alert claiming: “Mom seen.” That is the part that has left her wondering who, or what, the system believes it is seeing. For many people, strange experiences after losing a loved one can be deeply emotional.

The Most Disturbing Part

Some grieving families report hearing familiar voices, smelling a loved one’s perfume, or seeing objects move in ways they cannot explain. While some people believe these moments are spiritual signs, others say grief itself can make ordinary events feel far more intense.

In this Nebraska woman’s case, the fact that technology is involved only makes the experience feel even harder to dismiss. Because, unlike a dream or a memory, a camera notification feels concrete. And that is what has her so shaken.

After sharing her story online, viewers flooded the comment section with their own interpretations. Some believed her mother may be checking in from beyond. Others suggested the facial recognition software could be misidentifying shadows, light changes, or another person with similar features.

A few commenters offered much darker theories, warning that not everything that appears familiar should automatically be trusted. And as often happens online, the reactions ranged from comforting to downright chilling.

They never leave us. Physically or spiritually,” one follower writes.

THOSE ARE DEMONS, familiar spirits mimicking and playing on your emotions!! it ain’t your momma,” another warns. “Those cameras are portals.”

“Listen to your camera, she still here and watching over you, you just can’t see her,” one more adds.

Comforting or Frightening?

That may be the hardest part of the entire experience. The woman says she cannot decide whether the alerts should bring her comfort or fear. Part of her wonders whether it could be a sign that her mother is still somehow nearby.

Another part of her cannot shake the uneasy feeling that something about it simply is not right. And sometimes, the most unsettling experiences are the ones that blur the line between grief and mystery. Whether the explanation is technological, emotional, or something far more mysterious, one thing is certain. Those notifications are impossible for her to ignore.
