A DuPage County, Illinois resident who’s chosen to go by the nickname “Lucky,” which honestly feels very fitting right now, just hit a $1 million jackpot during what was supposed to be a normal workday. One minute he’s on break, the next minute he’s a millionaire.
According to the Illinois Lottery, Lucky picked up a $50 Millionaire Club Instant Ticket at his go-to Mobil gas station in Lombard, a place he apparently visits often and even has a personal connection with the staff. But here’s the twist: his first ticket didn’t win anything, per NBC Chicago.

Now, most people would probably take that as a sign and move on. Not Lucky. Instead, he decided to try again, and that second ticket is the one that changed everything. “I scratched off the ticket during a break at work and boom—I won,” he said.

Before he even bought the ticket, Lucky had joked with the staff at the store that he’d be coming back with a big win. “When I bought the ticket, I told them I was coming back with a lot of zeros. I can’t believe it actually happened!” he shared.
