A Florida pastor is making headlines after what should have been a joyful announcement turned into a full-blown scandal and it all started with a simple relationship status update.

Leslie Williams, 62, thought he was sharing good news when he revealed on social media that he had gotten married. Sweet, right? Not exactly. Because according to reports, there’s just one very big problem: he may have already been married when he said “I do” again, per Law and Crime.

The situation quickly spiraled after Williams changed his Facebook status to “Married” back in December 2025. While plenty of people flooded the comments with congratulations, not everyone was convinced this was exactly a fresh start. One commenter didn’t hold back, writing, “I thought you were already married. Congratulations!”

Florida Pastor Arrested For Allegedly Having Multiple Wives

Fast forward a few months, and things have gone from confusing to serious. Williams was arrested in Sumter County, Florida, after authorities in Georgia issued a warrant connected to the situation. He was taken into custody at his home in The Villages, a well-known 55+ community where he reportedly runs his ministry.

And this isn’t just any local resident. Williams is the head of Leslie Williams Ministries and even authored a book about relationships titled Love Her Like This: Loving Her Has Never Been Deeper. The book reportedly focuses on navigating issues in marriage and protecting what it calls a “sacred relationship.”

To make things even more eyebrow-raising, Williams shared photos of his new wife online, describing her as “saved, beautiful and talented.” But the internet was not exactly buying the fairy tale. Another commenter jumped in with a question that really took things to another level: “Soooooooo did you just forget that you were married to allegedly 6 women at the same time?”

Now, to be clear, details about the alleged prior marriages haven’t been fully outlined publicly. But the speculation alone has been enough to send social media into a frenzy, with people trying to piece together exactly what’s going on behind the scenes. “It’s illegal,” one person declared online. “Who cares?” said another.

It’s A Wild Story

As of now, Williams remains in custody in Sumter County and is being held without bond as an out-of-state fugitive. And if you’re thinking this sounds like something straight out of a reality show or true crime series, you’re not alone.

There’s something about this story that taps into that mix of disbelief and fascination. A pastor, a marriage-focused author, a surprise wedding announcement, and now legal trouble tied to multiple alleged relationships. It’s the kind of headline that practically writes itself.

At the center of it all, though, is a bigger conversation about transparency, accountability, and the gap between public image and private reality. Because when someone builds a platform around relationships, especially in a spiritual or advisory role, people tend to expect a certain level of consistency.

And as this Florida situation continues to unfold, one thing is clear: what started as a celebratory post has turned into a story no one saw coming.
