Brad Pitt isn’t afraid to speak out about things that others might find uncomfortable. He made that very clear when he sat down for a podcast interview with Dax Shepard. During the candid conversation, the actor opened up about many things, including his sexuality. Pitt has often been considered one of Hollywood’s sexiest men, and with marriages to A-list beauties such as Jennifer Aniston and Angelina Jolie, it’s not hard to see why.

During his time on Dax Shepard’s Armchair Podcast, Brad Pitt and his host reminisced about the first time that they met, which was at an AA meeting. Of course, Dax, who is a known jokester, asked if their meeting made Brad nervous in a sexual way. This led the Oscar-winning actor to reveal some inside information about his sexual history.

“You know, I’ve never had a gay experience. I kind of missed that window. But if I did, it wouldn’t be you,” Pitt shot back in a joking manner.

Brad went on to reveal that while growing up, both he and his brother were at the center of some bullying, which unfortunately included gay slurs. He also didn’t shy away from talking about other past traumas as well, such as his divorce from Angelina Jolie.

“I was trying anything and everything, anything anyone threw at me… It was a difficult time. I needed rebooting,” he said of his divorce from Jolie. That’s when he found his way to AA, a group that he credits for helping him heal by allowing him to be vulnerable and honest. All qualities he hadn’t seen much growing up in Oklahoma and Missouri.

“I just thought it was incredible, men sharing their experiences with their foibles, their missteps, their wants, their aches, and a lot of humor with it,” Pitt said. “It gives you permission to go, ‘OK, I’m gonna step out on this edge and see what happens.’ And then I really grew to love it.”

He even gave a shoutout to Shepard for being “so f-cking honest,” especially about sobriety struggles. Shepard had been sober for 16 years before a relapse in 2020, and Pitt affectionately called him “an elder statesman” of AA for blending wisdom with humor during meetings.

It seems that Brad Pitt is much more beyond the superstar glam and the tabloid headlines. He’s someone who’s faced real struggles, confronted them head-on, and come out the other side more grounded and open than ever. And while he might have missed the “gay experience window,” his willingness to tackle tough questions with humor and honesty? That’s a kind of bravery all its own.
