The president is never one to let go of a grudge. His latest move? Publicly declaring that he’s “seriously considering” revoking Rosie’s U.S. citizenship following her recent move to Ireland.
While the comment came via a characteristically unhinged Truth Social post, the intent behind it was crystal clear. Donald Trump wants Rosie O’Donnell to stay gone and be kept out for good. Even though no U.S. president has the legal authority to revoke citizenship over personal dislike, Trump’s statement is making waves. Again.
“Because of the fact that Rosie O’Donnell is not in the best interests of our Great Country, I am giving serious consideration to taking away her Citizenship,” Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform this morning, according to TMZ.
Earlier this year, Rosie O’Donnell quietly packed up her life in the U.S. and moved to Ireland. According to her, the change in scenery brought serious improvements to her physical and mental health. She’s reportedly been sleeping better, feeling less anxious, and enjoying the emotional distance from President Donald Trump’s chaotic political landscape.
She also hinted in a deleted TikTok video that she simply didn’t feel safe living in the U.S. while her political nemesis was back in power. Her solution? Find a country where she could finally breathe literally and politically.
Rosie O’Donnell Flees America To Escape Donald Trump
Donald Trump, never one to pass up a petty swipe, wasn’t about to let Rosie disappear into European peace and quiet. His post claimed that Rosie is “a threat to humanity” and should remain in Ireland. That is if they even want her. It’s the latest in a string of random celebrity-targeted insults from the former reality TV star-turned-president.
From calling Taylor Swift “no longer hot” for no apparent reason to dragging Rosie’s name back into the spotlight, Trump seems determined to make sure everyone who’s ever crossed him hears about it. Publicly. Again.
Ironically, President Trump’s rant might work in Rosie’s favor. Legal experts have previously noted that public hostility from a national leader can be used to support asylum or residency cases abroad. And since Rosie O’Donnell is already facing hurdles getting Irish citizenship, she may have just been handed the most unintentionally helpful tweet of her life.
In the meantime, while Trump rants and raves about revoking citizenship like he’s auditioning for a dictatorship, Rosie is living it up in Ireland with zero cares to give. Sure, not everyone’s a fan of Rosie. But at this point, most folks are too tired to care. And watching Trump spiral over someone who’s not even in the same country is just peak 2025.
