A fast-food shift in Wisconsin took a frightening turn when a teenage drive-thru employee was suddenly attacked by a customer, all because an order wasn’t ready fast enough.

The shocking moment happened at a Rocky Rococo restaurant in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and was caught on surveillance cameras. The footage reportedly shows a woman pulling up to the drive-thru window before pepper-spraying 18-year-old employee Vaida Fedikovich. After the attack, the customer simply drove away. Understandably, the situation left the young worker shaken, per WISN.

Fedikovich later described how the incident continued to affect her even after the moment had passed. “My heart is still pounding being here at this location,” she said when reflecting on the experience. The ordeal was so unsettling that she made the decision to leave the job shortly afterward. “I left on my own terms due to the circumstance that I did not feel safe.”

Working a drive-thru job can already be stressful. Anyone who has ever worked in food service knows the pressure of juggling orders, keeping customers happy, and moving quickly during busy hours. But getting assaulted over a delay? That’s a level of chaos no employee signs up for.

According to Fedikovich, the situation unfolded during what sounds like a simple moment of workplace multitasking. Her manager had asked her to grab ice, and in the process, she forgot that the customer was waiting at the window. “Basically, my manager told me to get ice, and I forgot she was there,” she explained.

While it might have slowed things down for a moment, the teen said it was an honest mistake and certainly not something that deserved a violent reaction. Fedikovich also pointed out that drive-thru lines often involve more moving parts than customers realize. Employees aren’t just focused on one person’s order at a time.

“There’s multiple people there, and it’s not just you in line; we have other things to do and it’s just all about waiting your turn and trying to work with us,” she said. In other words: patience goes a long way.

So Scary!

The Wisconsin incident has sparked concern about safety for workers in the service industry. Restaurants often rely on young employees, many of whom are working their first jobs. Situations like this highlight how vulnerable they can be when dealing with unpredictable customers.

Rocky Rococo’s leadership also addressed the situation following the attack. In a statement, a company spokesperson emphasized that the safety of employees is a top priority. “The safety of our employees and guests is extremely important to us. We are very concerned for our former team member following this incident. The matter was immediately reported to local authorities, and we are cooperating fully with their investigation.”

Despite the seriousness of the event, police in Milwaukee said no arrests had been made as of the latest update. For Fedikovich, however, the damage was already done. A routine shift in Wisconsin turned into a traumatic experience that ultimately pushed her to walk away from the job entirely.

The Internet Reacts

“The whole world’s going crazy,” one person stated of the situation. “How was that going to speed up the service?” said another. “That employee needs a really good lawyer,” a third person chimed in. “More safety measures for these restaurant employees, going forward,” a fourth comment read.

If there’s one takeaway from the situation, it’s this: sometimes people need a reminder that the person handing them their food at a drive-thru window is still a human being, not a punching bag for impatience.
