Officiating any level of sporting event isn’t necessarily an easy task, but it’s not like it is the hardest thing in the world. However, a lot of referees seem to have some big egos, no matter if they are on an NBA court, or in this case, a high school girls’ court. A recently posted TikTok shows an altercation between a Kansas official and a high school girls’ basketball player as the ref goes way too far. The video has around 147K views and 1.7 million likes as social media is angry.
The TikTok starts off with the official giving the player a double technical foul. This results in the said player being ejected from the game, and is usually saved as the harshest of punishments handed down by an official. Yet, in this video, the young woman was thrown out for simply asking for a foul call, which is common practice on a basketball court. Following the double technical foul, the player would ask for an explanation from the official. However, the man would shockingly bump into the young lady, and then dramatically fall to the ground.
TikTok Rages at Kansas High School Basketball Referee
The TikTok comment section was up in arms following this insane behavior from an adult. Many would flood the video as they want their shot at roasting this sorry official. “What a disgrace,” wrote one. “The game is for the players to win/lose. It isn’t for the refs to intentionally manipulate,” pointed out another. One person would also joke, “Flopping in the NBA is affecting every level of basketball.” Finally, one other person would comment, “That’s Kansas for ya!” It would appear that most everyone who cared to comment is not a big fan of this referee, or his behavior, and rightfully so.
As the video continues, even the two men calling the Kansas high school basketball game can’t believe what they have seen, even going back to the double technical foul call. “Oh my,” one says after seeing the ref completely flop over for no reason. “Wow,” said the other man in total disbelief.
The video then shows a few other angles of the altercation as the Kansas ref clearly fakes his fall. Unfortunately, there is not a ton of information following this incident, especially since the video cuts off after the man fakes his fall. However, hopefully this official won’t be attending any more games after this. As for the young lady, who allegedly knocked this man over, keep hooping.
