New York Judge Can’t Believe Her Eyes When Man Uses AI-Generated Lawyer In Court: ‘Ahead Of His Time’

The rise of artificial intelligence, more commonly known as AI, has been quite interesting. On one side, there is a group of people who seem to love the technology. However, on the other side, some people may believe that others are too reliant on it. With that being said, this recently posted TikTok video may just further that point. The clip has around 1.4 million likes as it shows this New York man attempting to use an AI-generated lawyer while at a court hearing.

The TikTok video starts off with the court hearing about to begin as the judge has taken her seat, and awaits the opening statements. Yet, when the person controlling the computer goes to click on the video, a clearly AI-generated man appears. The man in the video then states, “May it please the court. I come here today, a humble procedural before a panel of five distinguished justices.” The New York judge then stops the hearing in order to ask a few questions. The woman can be heard asking, “Hold on, is that counsel for the case?” Suddenly, the video cuts to the man being represented as he finally admits, “I generated that. That’s not a real person.”

TikTok Reacts To New York Man’s AI-Generated Lawyer

Unsurprisingly, the TikTok comment section had a lot to say regarding this. Many users would then rush to leave behind their own thoughts and jokes. One person wrote, “I feel bad for that AI lawyer; he was so prepared.” Another asked, “What made him think that that was okay?” One more also pointed out, “I get lawyers are expensive, but dear god, do not do this.” A different commenter then jokingly repeated, “May it please the court.” Finally, one last person’s comment also read, “This guy is way ahead of his time.”

As the TikTok video continues, the New York man goes on to get absolutely flamed by the judge. The woman also complains to the man about how he is basically just wasting everyone’s time right now. However, the guy does not really seem to care, sadly. Nevertheless, the woman goes keeps talking to the man about how dumb this was.

As the clip video comes to an end, the New York judge states that if the man wishes to speak in person to her, now would be the time. Unfortunately, the video would cut off after that, though. At the end of the day, AI can certainly be a useful tool for some things. However, it probably isn’t a very good or ethical idea to use the technology for something important, as this man did in the TikTok.
