Micheal Neeson, the teenage son of Liam Neeson and actress the late Natasha Richardson has spoken out in his first interview ever about ho he handled his mother’s tragic and sudden death.

Micheal Neeson revealed that shortly following his mom’s death in 2009 he descended into a “dark” and dangerous world of drugs and alcohol. Neeson was only 13-years-old at the time of his mother’s sudden and shocking death following what first appeared as a minor head injury during a ski accident in Canada. Micheal reveals that he was extremely close to his mother, calling himself a mama’s boy stating that he suffered a loss he did not know how to cope with at the time.

“In my mind, subconsciously, I either pushed it out or stored it deep inside,” he told The Sunday Times newspaper, adding, “And so, within the next week I was like ‘Okay, on with my life.’ “Neeson reveals that soon after he began to frequent the New York party scene, it is then he also began his decent into the dark and dangerous world of drugs and alcohol.
Micheal claims that he finally hit his rock bottom last spring things when things were spiraling completely out of control.
“The people I was with, we were partying a lot,” he said. “It was dark. I hit rock bottom.” Micheal shares his tough times revealing that he was very close to his mother and that everyday was a major struggle to deal with her loss. Everybody said, ‘This kid has lost his mum, that’s where the problem comes from.’ And I was like, ‘No, it isn’t, I just like to party.’ But looking back I realize it was a delayed reaction.”
Today Micheal Neeson is healthy and sober. The young man credits his family, (grandma Vanessa Redgrave), friends and a trip to to Utah in wilderness therapy to his survival and sobriety.
Today at, age 19, Neeson reveals he is living in London. and is now working as a fashion gallery curator. Micheal also has great aspirations of following his mother’s footsteps an has expressed a great interest in pursuing a career in acting.
Michel claims , honestly that his father would rather see him do anything but that, but is still an inspiration to him, and would support any decision he makes. He also believes his mom would think it “cool” for him to become an actor.
Natasha Richardson died on March 18, 2009 after she sustained a head injury when she fell while taking a beginner skiing lesson at the Mont Tremblant Resort in Quebec, Canada.
