A late-night traffic stop spiraled into one of the wildest DUI excuses ever when a Florida woman, caught driving recklessly and even hitting a police cruiser, tried to convince officers that it wasn’t her fault. Instead, she invented an invisible husband to take the blame. Apparently, her “husband” was the one behind the wheel. However, there was no husband in the car.
The whole fiasco started when drivers on the interstate noticed a vehicle swerving and heading the wrong way. Dashcam footage later posted to X showed patrol cars in pursuit, sirens blaring as one officer attempted to block the Florida driver. Instead of pulling over, she struck the side of a police car and kept going, almost like she thought she could outlast the flashing lights. Eventually, a perfectly executed pit maneuver forced her into a sloppy U-turn, and two squad cars boxed her in.
That’s when the surreal scene really began. Officers approached the car, only to find a woman with blue hair, a bralette-style top, and nose rings looking off-kilter. “Do you realize you are going the wrong way on the interstate?” an officer asked. “On this interstate?” she asked as though there might have been another highway magically hiding nearby.

Still, she wasn’t ready to admit defeat. In her version of the night, her husband was supposed to be the one driving her home. Except, well, no one else was in the car. When police double-checked, they confirmed what was obvious to everyone watching. The driver’s seat had been occupied by her and her alone. Even then, she stumbled over her words, first admitting it, then doubling down that she was just a passenger. It was almost as if she hoped her imaginary spouse would materialize and take the blame.
Things didn’t get much better when the officer asked about alcohol. She openly admitted to having two full drinks, one at home and one at the bar. When instructed to perform a field sobriety test, she failed spectacularly. The video showed her struggling with basic tasks like standing straight and walking a line. At that point, the inevitable happened. The handcuffs came out, and her night came to a hard stop.

“Totally the Husband’s fault… totally. What an a-hole. Why would he put her in that position? Freaking Men, AmIRight?” one person joked on social media. “This lady needs to be studied,” suggested another. “I hope morons like her who do this lose their driving privileges for years,” a third person commented. “That’s grounds for divorce,” a fourth comment read.
Blaming invisible partners is a new one, even in Florida, where wild DUI stories are practically their own genre of local news. This woman’s excuse may not have kept her out of trouble, but it did land her a spot in internet infamy. After all, you can’t call on your husband to take the fall when he doesn’t even exist.
