Could Gimenez’s Breakout Season Cause An Amed Rosario Trade?

The Cleveland Guardians have had a very successful season so far as they are the youngest team in all of Baseball but yet they still lead the American League Central. While Baseball is a team sport the Guardians have a handful of players they can thank for their division lead. One of those players is Andres Gimenez.

Gimenez was traded to Cleveland in the Lindor trade last season where he had a less than productive first year in The Land. Fast forward to this season and Gimenez has been Cleveland’s secret weapon.

While Andres Gimenez can not match the power of his home runs or run productivity of Jose Ramirez (not many players can.) He can produce in clutch situations as he has been doing all year. Gimenez is single-handedly responsible for many Cleveland Guardians’ wins as his ability to hit in the clutch is second to none on the Guardians and maybe even the Major League Baseball.

Amed Rosario on his way out?

Andres Gimenez’s great play raises the question, what will the Guardians do with Shortstop Amed Rosario? Last year Rosario was the one making things happen for Cleveland but he has slowed down considerably this season.

Not that he is playing badly because he is playing as you would expect a professional to play but if the Guardians were to find a good deal for Amed would they take it?

If it were a choice between Andres and Amed the Guardians would more than likely take Gimenez and just find a new Shortstop or move Gimenez and find a new Second Basemen.

Focoused on playoff baseball

That being said, nothing of that magnitude could happen this season as we are well past the trade deadline and the Guardians need to keep their guys focused and united for a deep playoff push. Will the Guardians be able to make a deep run this season? Or will Cleveland fall short once again as they have not seen playoff action in two seasons?

It will be very interesting to see what will happen with Amed Rosario and Andres Gimenez next season. Gimenez has solidified his case to be a key player for years to come not just with his offense but his defensive capability.

Andres had his first all-star game appearance this season as he started at Second base. For what next season holds we will all just have to wait and see what happens as we get closer to playoff baseball.
