Being a rookie in the NBA is most likely a dream of every young sports fan at one time or another. However, is it really all it’s cracked up to be? As a rookie, you are the lowest rung on the ladder, the last man to get any glory, and the first to go run all the errands.
In a recently posted Tiktok, Cleveland, Ohio basketball player Ernest Udeh Jr. finds out what being a rookie in the NBA is all about.
The TikTok video starts off with Cleveland Cavaliers star Donovan Mitchell standing in the Ohio-based team’s parking garage. Next to him is a vehicle, but something is a little off about the car.
Upon closer look, the vehicle has been filled to the top with popped popcorn kernels. Mitchell can then be seen grabbing a handful of popcorn and taking a few quick bites before the person recording moves on.
Cleveland Cavaliers Rookie Getting Pranked By Teammates
The TikTok comment section was quick to jump in on this one as well, with many users rushing to leave behind their own thoughts and jokes regarding the matter. “Where do they get so much popcorn?” asked one. Another wanted to know, “Is that Donovan Mitchell?” A different commenter then pointed out, “The car is going to smell like popcorn for so long.” Finally, one last person’s comment also read, “This is only funny because it isn’t my car.”
As the TikTok goes on, the person recording walks around to the driver’s side of the vehicle. It is then that viewers get a little more context to the situation, as there is a note stuck to the vehicle’s door.
He Should Have Brought Donuts
The note reads as follows: “October 26th, you failed to bring donuts twice.” It would seem as though this was a little bit of hazing directed at the team’s rookie, Ernest Udeh Jr., for not doing his rookie duties and bringing the team donuts.
The clip came to an end with the rookie getting a good look inside his popcorn-filled car. At the end of the day, the Cleveland Cavaliers are a very closely knit basketball team, and stuff like this just goes to show they like to have fun together. Hopefully, Ernest Udeh Jr. was able to get all the popcorn out of his car, but good luck with that smell.
The Cavs Expectations For The 2026-2027 Season
The Cleveland Cavaliers entered the 2026-27 NBA season looking to build on their recent success and remain among the Eastern Conference’s top contenders. Led by star guard Donovan Mitchell, the Cavaliers have a talented core built around scoring, athleticism, and strong play on both ends of the court.
The team’s biggest storyline this season is the opportunity for its core players to build chemistry over a full campaign. James Harden is back alongside Mitchell after joining Cleveland last season, while Evan Mobley and Jarrett Allen give the Cavaliers a formidable frontcourt presence. Head coach Kenny Atkinson will also have new addition Peyton Watson in the mix, bringing defensive versatility and another scoring option to the lineup.
Cleveland is coming off a 52-win season that ended with an appearance in the Eastern Conference Finals, where the Cavaliers were eliminated by the New York Knicks. Now, the goal is to take another step forward and make a serious push toward the NBA Finals. Fans can follow the team’s current roster and coaching staff, along with its progress throughout the season, on the NBA’s official website.
