A Pensacola, Florida, mother’s peaceful home life has reportedly been upended, leaving her worried, frustrated, and feeling unsafe. What seemed like a routine rental arrangement has spiraled into a tense situation, she says is affecting her family.
The woman, a single mother known as @ thekenyatta on TikTok, claims she pays her bills on time and keeps the peace. However, her landlord recently moved an 85-year-old man into the backyard of the Florida property she rents. While the landlord referred to the arrangement as “a blessing,” the woman claims it quickly became a source of discomfort and harassment.

“The man keeps asking for hugs, and they are trying to control me and harass me,” she says in one clip.
She reports that the man repeatedly asks for hugs and makes inappropriate remarks, including comments about “a man having needs,” despite her status as a single parent.
She also describes additional disturbances, such as the man’s cat urinating on her front lawn and piles of junk accumulating around the property. The woman believes the landlord and new tenant are deliberately taking advantage of her, attempting to control her, and disregarding her rights.
Landlord Issues Warning Letter
Tensions escalated after the woman requested that all communication with her landlord be in writing. She claims he responded with a warning letter insisting that phone communication was mandatory, threatening a 30-day eviction notice if she failed to comply. Tearfully, she explained that all she’s been doing is caring for her children and maintaining her household, yet she feels threatened and unprotected.
Social media users have responded with concern and offers of assistance. Many encouraged her to move, seek legal help, or take other steps to protect herself and her children. Some commenters questioned the legality of her landlord’s actions and urged her to pursue formal complaints or establish protective measures such as escrow accounts.
This Florida mother’s story highlights the potential risks renters can face when landlords make unexpected decisions about who occupies surrounding property. Situations like these underscore the importance of knowing tenant rights, documenting all communication, and seeking legal counsel when safety or harassment concerns arise.
