There is something about the forests in Washington that already feels mysterious. Towering trees, endless quiet, and trails that seem to stretch into nowhere can make even experienced hikers feel small. But according to one man sharing an unsettling warning online, the beauty of the wilderness may also come with something far more disturbing hiding just out of sight.

He says too many strange reports have surfaced from the same wooded areas to simply dismiss as coincidence, and now he wants people to think twice before venturing too deep into isolated trails. The man claims a growing number of hikers have reported deeply unsettling encounters involving strange elderly people appearing unexpectedly in remote areas of the woods.

These encounters so bizarre that some people later questioned whether what they experienced could even be explained. To explain why he believes something unusual may be happening in Washington’s forests, the man recounted a creepy experience involving a couple named Jack and Katie.

Washington Man Issues Ominous Warning

According to the story, the pair had planned what sounded like a simple outdoor adventure: a five-mile jog near the Snoqualmie Pass area along a trail that reportedly branched off from the Pacific Crest Trail. They parked their vehicle at the base of the route early in the morning and began what they expected would be a peaceful run.

Everything felt normal at first. But around two miles into the trail, the couple reportedly came across an elderly woman standing alone. Jack and Katie allegedly described the woman as being in her late 70s, with pale white skin and an expression that unsettled them almost instantly. What stood out most, they said, was the eerie blankness on her face.

She wore white clothing and slowly walked the trail alone. Trying to be polite, the couple reportedly greeted her while jogging past, but she offered no response. No smile. No acknowledgment. She simply continued walking.

The Encounter That Made No Sense

At first, they shrugged it off. Then things got strange. Roughly another mile into their jog, Jack and Katie claim they saw the exact same woman again. Only this time, panic started creeping in. They could not understand how she could have somehow gotten ahead of them.

The trail conditions made it seem nearly impossible. Confused and uneasy, they reportedly continued their run despite the growing feeling that something was very wrong. Then, at the end of their five-mile route, there she was again. But this encounter felt different.

The woman allegedly looked directly at them this time and smiled. Then she turned and quietly walked away. Shaken but eager to leave, the couple headed back toward their vehicle. But according to the Washington man, what happened next truly terrified them.

Standing near their car was the same elderly woman. This time, she finally spoke saying, “I guess this is the end of the trail now.” The couple reportedly hurried past her, desperate to leave. But after walking by, they turned around one last time. She was gone. No sign of where she had gone. Just gone.

The Missing Hours

By the time Jack and Katie climbed into their car, both reportedly felt nauseous and strangely weak. Then they noticed something alarming. The clock read 6 p.m. That made no sense. They believed they had started their jog around 8 that morning. Confused, sick, and too exhausted to drive, the couple allegedly stayed parked and eventually fell asleep in the car.

When they woke hours later, they both reportedly felt an overwhelming sensation that someone had been watching them. They left immediately. What makes the account even stranger, according to the man sharing these warnings, is that Jack and Katie’s experience is not the only one.

Similar Stories Continue to Surface

He claims others exploring wooded areas in Washington have described similar encounters involving elderly strangers appearing repeatedly on trails. Sometimes an older woman dressed in pale clothing, other times an elderly man behaving strangely in isolated areas.

Whether these stories are misunderstood coincidences, local folklore, or something no one fully understands remains open for debate. Either way, the man sharing these chilling reports says hikers should stay alert, trust their instincts, and remember that not every path into the woods ends the way you expect.

Why I don’t go out into the woods. Things in our woods we just don’t question,” one commenter writes.

All Washington State is haunted it’s just a known thing. You do everything at your own risk,” another adds.

Sometimes, according to these eerie accounts, the strangest thing you encounter may already be waiting for you on the trail.
