A Texas woman is sending shockwaves through Austin after going public with alarming allegations about one of the city’s popular smoothie spots. Her viral TikTok video claims that a location in The Domain outdoor mall has been dealing with an ongoing pest problem so severe, it’s reportedly left employees disgusted and concerned for customers.
According to the former employee at Juiceland who spent two years at the store, the situation escalated over the past year, with cockroaches, rats, and mold allegedly infesting the shop. She shared images showing what she claims are pests crawling in ice, on equipment, and even inside supplements used for drinks. The conditions reportedly became so intolerable that she decided to quit, calling the environment “disgusting” and “unbearable.”
“Do not go to the Juiceland in the Domain,” she said. “I just quit in July because I just couldn’t take it… It wasn’t sitting well with my spirit that we were selling roach smoothies [or] rat-contaminated smoothies… and nothing was being done about it. Every single day, it was just disgusting. Everything [was] contaminated.”
Texas Woman Claims Management Ignored Warnings
She alleges management repeatedly ignored complaints from staff. She claims they are only offering ineffective spray treatments while the pests allegedly returned day after day. On top of the infestation claims, she accused the Texas company of mishandling employee pay. Adding staff were forced to repay money owed to them. This is an alleged practice that added to the frustration and fear inside the store.
The video quickly went viral, sparking outrage among locals and social media users. Many Austinites reacted with disbelief and horror, warning friends and family to avoid the location. Some suggested that other businesses in the mall could face similar problems. Though there’s no proof yet that the infestation extends beyond this smoothie spot. Still, the allegations have shaken the community and cast a shadow over a location many considered safe and upscale.
Pest issues can occur wherever food is prepared. These claims highlight how quickly a popular spot can turn into a potential health nightmare when management allegedly turns a blind eye. The woman says she has additional photos documenting mold, rats, and cockroaches inside the store. Though she only shared a few in her video, she left viewers horrified and anxious.
