The royal family drama just keeps getting messier, and this time, it’s not just about sibling rivalry or palace gossip. According to reports, King Charles is now so wary of his youngest son, Prince Harry, that he’s been warned not to even speak to him because there’s a real concern that Harry could secretly record their conversations and potentially use them in court.
Radar Online reports that legal experts close to the monarchy have strongly advised King Charles to stay completely silent when it comes to Prince Harry, especially given the Duke of Sussex’s ongoing legal battles with the British government. Apparently, Charles has been told that even a casual chat with Harry could become risky, especially if the conversation touches on sensitive topics like security.
“Charles has been advised even speaking to Harry now may be out of the question,” a source shared. “He has been told Harry could use every word he says to wage a new war to get security protection, and the policy now when it comes to Harry is total silence.”
And the concern isn’t exactly out of thin air. Harry has a track record of airing out royal laundry in public, most notably in his best-selling memoir Spare, where he detailed deeply personal family conversations and moments, some of which, according to palace insiders, may not have been entirely accurate. So it’s no surprise that the palace is approaching this with extreme caution.
King Charles Concerned About Prince Harry Spying On Royal Family
“The thought of his own son using his words against him shocked Charles at first,” the insider continued, “but when he listened to his legal advisers he now sees it is a real legal risk and Harry is now totally frozen out of the royal fold as a result.”
To be fair, Harry’s legal fight for taxpayer-funded security has been dragging on for years. Since stepping down from his senior royal duties in 2020, he lost access to UK police protection, a decision he’s challenged in court. And here’s where it gets tricky: if King Charles were to say anything, even informally, that could later be twisted or taken out of context, it could become ammunition in the courtroom.
“There is deep discomfort about any discussion of private conversations finding their way into the public domain — especially when there are legal proceedings underway,” a former Palace aide reportedly said. “That’s not just a family issue — it’s a constitutional one.”
Meanwhile, Meghan Markle is said to be over it. According to a former Archewell Foundation employee, “She supports Harry 100 percent, but she wishes he could let go of these lawsuits, be happy and live in the moment.” The insider added, “She wants him to live in a world where he is not burdened by this.”
Can Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Ever Make Amends with the Royal Family?
It’s a heartbreaking situation all around. On one hand, you have a father battling cancer and facing the final chapters of his life. On the other hand, a son who feels he must fight for his family’s safety, even if it means going head-to-head with the very institution that raised him.
As it stands now, the divide between King Charles and Prince Harry seems wider than ever, and unless something changes, it looks like silence will continue to be the royal family’s official stance.
