Brunch is supposed to be relaxing. Sadly, that wasn’t the situation for one California woman. Nora Flores, who goes by @nora_flo online, shared a TikTok that’s quickly gained traction after detailing what she describes as a deeply unsettling experience at a Mexican restaurant in Riverside.
According to Flores, she and a friend stopped in at the California spot for brunch around early afternoon. She ordered a small bottle of prosecco, expecting the usual crisp, pale bubbly you’d associate with a casual daytime drink. Instead, what she says she got was something else entirely.
“It was a bright purple.” Naturally, she questioned it. When she asked the server if the color was correct, she claims he reassured her that it was. But Flores wasn’t convinced. So instead of taking a sip, she did something that probably saved her a lot of trouble: she smelled it.

And that’s when things got even more alarming. “It’s Fabuloso,” she said, claiming the household cleaner was in place of her drink. Her friend reportedly had the same reaction, immediately recognizing the scent and suggesting the whole thing felt like some kind of terrible prank. But this wasn’t a joke anyone was laughing at.
Flores says she brought the drink back to the bar, where staff began trying to figure out what could have happened. Eventually, she was given a replacement bottle, which she says appeared normal. Still, the situation didn’t sit right.
“Who does this and why? With what motive?” That question alone is enough to make anyone uneasy. Because if what she’s describing is accurate, this isn’t just a simple mistake it’s something far more serious.
And it opens the door to even bigger concerns. Flores pointed out that the restaurant transitions into a nightclub in the evenings, which raised an unsettling possibility in her mind. “Has someone already ingested this before?”
According to her, when she spoke with staff, they denied having that specific cleaner on-site, which only added another layer of confusion. “Which is really strange because then it would have meant that somebody probably is bringing that from home, which is so weird.”

And if that’s the case, it raises even more questions about how something like that could happen in the first place. What seems to be frustrating Flores the most, though, isn’t just the incident—it’s how it was handled afterward. She claims the restaurant initially said they would look into the situation more thoroughly, including reviewing surveillance footage. But later, she says that effort was dropped.
“Just today I received a response of ‘that’s it.’ What I said to you on the phone is as much as we have.”
For many viewers, that response is where the real issue lies. The comment section quickly filled with reactions, and people weren’t holding back. “Distinct smell. You recognize it instantly!” Another said,“The biggest issue here is the lack or concern from the restaurant itself. It could be one specific ill-intended employee but they dont seem to be caring about their overall reputation.” Another person pointed out,“The manager not taking it serious. Insane.”
Flores says she’s since reported the situation to the local health department and left reviews in hopes of bringing attention to what happened. “I hope that this saves a person from drinking this poisonous solution. It could be fatal, and it should be taken a lot more seriously.”
Thankfully, this California woman noticed something was off and didn’t ingest any of the liquid. Meanwhile, it seems some investigation needs to be done into the matter.
