If you’ve ever wondered what kids really think about adults, especially once you hit that magical “over 40” category, you might want to sit down for this one. Because a California middle school teacher just handed his students the mic and they did not hold back.

Shane Frakes, a 7th grade teacher from California who’s built a following online under @7thgradechronicles, has a habit of turning everyday classroom moments into viral gold. His content usually highlights the unfiltered, wildly honest thoughts of Gen Alpha students, and this time, he asked a question that hit a little too close to home for a lot of people.

What do people in their 40s do for fun? Simple enough, right? Well, not according to his students. The answers they came up with are equal parts hilarious, savage, and, depending on who you ask, uncomfortably accurate. Instead of glamorous hobbies or exciting adventures, the kids painted a very specific picture of adulthood that feels like it came straight out of a sitcom.

We’re talking Wordle, coupon counting, and sitting outside yelling at people to stay off the lawn. According to the list, life after 40 apparently revolves around things like “Play Wordle,” “Go on Facebook,” and “Grill food on Sundays.”

And just when you think it can’t get more specific, they add in things like “Take their medicine,” “Knitting,” and “Bingo.” Basically, the students didn’t just describe middle age, they accidentally aged everyone about 20 extra years.

Naturally, the internet had a field day with it. But what’s interesting is that instead of pushing back, most people in their 40s just accepted their fate. “Home goods is accurate,” one person admitted. “I needed this laugh right before bed and I see no wrong answers,” another wrote.

The Kids Were Scary Accurate According To TikTok

Others leaned all the way in. “40 and I scored fairly high on this.” Another said,“The accuracy. I feel attacked.” And honestly, that might be the funniest part of all because instead of being offended, people are realizing these kids might not be entirely wrong.

After watching the video, many couldn’t believe how accurate the California students were. “Regretting life decisions while watching this,” one person joked. “I feel attacked,” said another.
