TikTok trends pop up faster than you can say “For You Page,” and most of the time, they’re just harmless fun. However, one South Dakota Dollar Tree manager clearly didn’t get the memo. Two teenage girls learned that the hard way after their lighthearted TikTok filming session inside a Dollar Tree spiraled into a full-blown confrontation.
According to the video, the South Dakota girls were recording a simple TikTok trend where friends pick out items in a store, surprise each other, and show what they found. Totally innocent, right? But things went south when they realized the store’s manager was standing behind them, glaring.
The woman immediately accused them of suspicious behavior, claiming an employee thought they’d stuffed something in their pockets. The girls, shocked, quickly explained that they were not stealing they were just hiding the items from each other for the sake of the video. “I PROMISE WE WERE NOT STEALING,” the teen later clarified in her post. “We literally just put them under our vests to hide it from each other lol.”

Still, the South Dakota Dollar Tree manager wasn’t buying it. Instead of hearing them out, she told the girls to get out or she’d call the cops. The teens looked at each other in disbelief as the situation escalated. Things got even more heated when the woman barked, “We aren’t here to make TikToks.”
Sure, store rules are store rules but maybe yelling at teenage customers isn’t the best management strategy? The girls didn’t fight back. They stayed calm, even managing to smile at the absurdity of it all. That only seemed to make the manager more furious. “It’s not even [expletive] funny. You want me to call the cops?” she snapped.
To their credit, the teens tried to reason with her. One of them asked, “What is your deal?” but the woman just doubled down, insisting they had merchandise in their pockets. At this point, anyone watching could see this was a major overreaction. If she truly believed they were stealing, wouldn’t she wait to see what they did next before jumping to conclusions?
The Internet Thinks The Manager Took It Too Far
Finally, one of the girls pushed back politely saying, “You don’t gotta raise your voice.” That didn’t go over well. The manager ordered them to either pay for the items or “drop it” and go. So, one girl tossed what she was holding to the floor, grabbed her phone, and walked out with her friend. As they exited, one of them threw a parting shot that summed it all up perfectly: “You learn how to grow up. Look at you grown [expletive] woman yelling at us teenagers.”
“She escalated it too fast,” one person wrote in the comment section. “She’s so bothered for nothing,” another agreed. “Why she get so aggressive at the end?” a third person asked. “She’s been waiting her whole life to start a fight obviously,” a fourth comment read.
The two girls were calm for the most part. However, did they did stand their ground by leaving the store with a bit of attitude. They have the video to prove they weren’t stealing, but it seems that the South Dakota Dollar Tree manager didn’t want to hear their side of the story.
