The poor Ohio woman didn’t realize she had been snoozing next to her new “bedmate” for nearly four hours. When she finally noticed, she was understandably horrified. After calling the police, she was told to reach out to wildlife officials. Their advice? Simply release it outside. Of course, assuming it wasn’t injured or caring for babies. So, armed with gloves and nerves of steel, she scooped up the little intruder and carried it out to her gate.

At first, the frightened opossum didn’t move, leading her to believe it was hurt. Turns out, it was just playing possum, literally. These creatures freeze up when terrified, entering a temporary paralysis. When she checked later, it had vanished. Nature: 1. Ohio woman: 0.
