When you book an Airbnb, you expect a cozy home away from home, not a terrifying real-life horror movie. But for one Florida woman, her dream vacation in Morocco turned into a nightmare after discovering a hidden camera aimed straight at the shower. And now, thanks to TikTok, the entire internet is shook.

Pauline, a Florida native who was documenting her trip via TikTok, went from showing off scenic adventures to revealing one of the creepiest things a traveler could ever imagine. In a now-viral video with over 3 million views and counting, Pauline shows what appears to be a simple framed photo of a dog, except it was anything but innocent. The video quickly takes a dark turn when viewers learn that the stock photo was covering a hidden camera, placed to spy on guests while they showered.

Let’s just pause for a second. A camera. In the shower. Disguised behind a picture of a dog. If that doesn’t make your skin crawl, we don’t know what will.

Pauline and her friends became suspicious when they noticed that the picture frame had moved on its own. Curious and understandably freaked out, they decided to inspect it more closely. That’s when they discovered that the frame wasn’t just a cheap piece of wall decor, it was a full-blown surveillance setup. “Y’all see that camera right?” the on-screen text reads, as she shines a flashlight directly at the lens tucked behind the frame. To make matters worse, the frame even had an on/off switch at the top, suggesting this wasn’t some amateur setup.

“This could happen to anyone,” Pauline wrote in her TikTok caption, summing up a situation that most travelers don’t even think to prepare for.

And while the camera discovery was the main horror moment, Pauline also shared that there were red flags before they even got settled. In a follow-up storytime video, she explained that the Airbnb host had been acting weird when they first arrived. Still, not wanting to be rude or assume the worst, the group said nothing until they found the camera.

To their credit, the group took action immediately. Law enforcement was called, and the Airbnb host was taken into custody. Due to an ongoing court hearing, Pauline hasn’t been able to share many more details publicly, but it’s safe to say her story has sparked a much-needed conversation.

TikTok Is Gasping

Airbnb technically has a strict no-tolerance policy for indoor surveillance, but as this viral video proves, not every host follows the rules. And unfortunately, it’s often travelers, especially women, who end up discovering these terrifying violations of privacy the hard way.

With over 107,000 likes on her initial post and millions of views, Pauline’s experience has become more than just a scary story, it’s a wake-up call. Travelers are now flooding TikTok comments with messages of support and advice, and many are rethinking how they vet their bookings.

“Congratulations on the lawsuit,” one person wrote. “Can you imagine how many people he has on video?” another asked. “I can only imagine where else he has hidden cameras, this is absolutely terrifying,” a third person chimed in.

The takeaway here? Always check your Airbnb thoroughly. Look behind picture frames, mirrors, smoke detectors, basically anything that seems even slightly off. Because, as this Florida woman’s trip proves anything, it’s that it really can happen to anyone.
