A woman in Wisconsin recently decided ordinary hobbies were simply not dramatic enough anymore. While most people spend a quiet day relaxing with a good book. However, this devoted reader set out to tackle a challenge so ambitious that even fellow book lovers found themselves equal parts impressed and concerned. Followers watching her journey unfold online admitted they became emotionally invested, partly because of the sheer determination involved and partly because? Well, who willingly signs up for mental exhaustion on purpose?

Whatever this challenge was, one thing quickly became clear. She was not joking around. And coffee was apparently going to play a major role. The Wisconsin woman is an avid reader known for running book clubs, creating BookTok content, and openly sharing her love of books. Especially works by Stephen King, decided it was finally time to challenge herself in a major way.

Her chosen mission? To read It in one single sitting. Yes, that It. For anyone unfamiliar, Stephen King’s legendary horror novel clocks in at a staggering 1,153 pages, making it one of the author’s biggest and most intimidating reads. The woman documented the challenge online, revealing she woke up before sunrise and, in her own words, was “choosing absolute insanity.”

Wisconsin Woman Makes It Her Mission To Conquer Stephen King’s It

At around 5:45 a.m., she explained that the experiment would either leave her hating herself or feeling incredibly accomplished by the end. Still, she had a plan. Based on her reading speed, she roughly read 100 pages per hour. She estimated the challenge would take somewhere between 12 and 14 hours to complete.

At 6 a.m., as the sun came up over Wisconsin, she officially began. Her setup sounded surprisingly peaceful. Outside in a chair, latte in hand, preparing for what she jokingly admitted would be only the first coffee of many. As the hours passed, the woman checked in regularly with followers.

The updates became part progress report, part survival journal. Early on, she admitted she had gotten off to a slower start than expected, sharing that she had made it only 60 pages in while already sipping latte number two. Still, quitting was never really an option. Every few hours, she returned with another update, looking increasingly tired but still determined to keep moving through the massive novel.

By noon, she had officially crossed the halfway point. For many followers, simply watching someone attempt this challenge felt exhausting enough. Yet somehow, she kept going. Then came hour 13. Against all odds, she finished. All 1,153 pages. And judging by her reaction, exhaustion had officially been replaced with pride.

This is quarantine activities lol I love it,” one follower writes.

“This is the flex you think it is! This is next-level commitment,” another adds.

Longest Reading Day Ever

She captioned her post, writing, “ I am not the same person after this,” and to be honest, who would be. But her followers were more than impressed, and she was proud of herself. So all in all, despite the eye strain and stiff muscles, it was a good day for this Wisconsin woman.

Believe it or not, marathon reading sessions like this can actually take a toll on the body. Hours of uninterrupted reading may lead to eye strain, headaches, dry eyes, neck pain, and mental fatigue. Sitting too long without breaks can also cause stiffness and soreness. Add multiple lattes to the mix, and you are basically fueling yourself through an endurance event disguised as a cozy hobby.

At the end of the day, this Wisconsin woman proved something many people only joke about: readers can be surprisingly hardcore. Sure, spending 13 hours locked into one giant horror novel sounds a little concerning. But there is also something undeniably impressive about setting a wildly ambitious goal and actually finishing it. Because while most people might fear Pennywise, she somehow conquered something even scarier. Reading It in a single day.
