Motorized wheelchairs or scooters have changed the lives of countless people who need help getting around. However, they are typically pretty slow-moving so as not to be too dangerous to operate. Yet, this recently posted TikTok video shows something very different from what most are used to. The clip has around 56K likes and 501K views, as this elderly Texas man has a custom chair that moves just about as fast as an actual vehicle.
The TikTok video would begin with a person driving down the street in their own vehicle. However, as they record, viewers can see the elderly Texas man absolutely flying down the sidewalk on a custom-made mobility scooter. The chair is even set with motorcycle-like handlebars that the old man has to reach up in order to hang onto. The man can also be seen almost keeping pace with the moving vehicle, as the driver records him.
TikTok Can’t Get Enough Of This Elderly Texas Man’s Custom Wheelchair
Sadly, the clip has extremely loud music playing over the whole thing, so it is impossible to hear what the person recording is saying about what they just witnessed. The elderly Texas man can also be seen speeding over bumps, around pedestrians, and even on a crosswalk for a few short moments. Unfortunately, it is unknown who the older man is, and how long it took to make such a machine. Nevertheless, this is a very impressive build.
Not to anyone’s shock, the TikTok comment section had a lot to say about this encounter. Many users would flock to the video in order to leave behind their own thoughts and opinions on the matter. “This is Congress showing up to vote,” joke done. Another pointed out, “This was the soundtrack to every 80s movie.” Somebody else also wrote, “I lost it!” as they laughed. Finally, one last person’s comment also read, “I’ve seen my future, and it’s bright.”
The TikTok video would then come to an end, following this, as the driver who was recording cut off the clip. Hopefully, they were more focused on driving their own car after that. However, at the end of the day, this was certainly a strange encounter. Hopefully, the elderly Texas man is careful when he is ripping around in his chair, and maybe next time he can wear a helmet, for safety, of course.
