Legendary performer Tom Jones has been added to the list of popular well to do celebrity entertainers that have reportedly chosen to ignore their parental responsibilities. Some to the point of totally ignoring their children. New reports from National Enquirer reveal that Tom Jones has a second son by the name of Jon Jones.
Every man for himself in the Tom Jones family
Jon Jones, who is struggling singer, claims he is broke, and homeless and ignored by his famous, aging wealthy father. Jon’s story is a sad one but not uncommon, full name Jonathan Berkery, Jon has been attempting to contact his biological father “What’s New Pussy Cat” hit maker Tom Jones for many years. Jon reveals he has struggled throughout his life with drug addiction and the ability to get and keep a job. He also reveals that he makes his home of sorts, at a Hoboken homeless shelter in New Jersey.
Jon claims he wants nothing more than to meet Tom
He claims his main wish in life is to meet with and speak with his father, Tom Jones. He feels it would just be wonderful to have a normal day to day conversation with Jones about their lives.
Jon, 29, adds that now that his father is getting up in age and beginning to have health issues time is the essence. He feels a great desire to put the past behind them and spend what time they may have left getting to know each other. Berkery reveals he spent years and years hating Tom Jones. He claims he is the love child of Jones and his model mother, Katherine Berkery.
DNA test proves Jon is Jones’ son
Jon also says Tom and his mom hooked up for a one night stand after meeting at a Manhattan club back in 1988. According to Jon after Katherine discovered she was pregnant Tom Jones blew her off wanting nothing to do with either of them. Katherine was not dismissed so easily though. A DNA test soon proved that Tom Jones was the father of Jon and Jones was court ordered to pay $3000 per month in support until his 18th birthday.
Berkery claims that after Tom Jones‘ wife Linda passed away in 2016 he reached out to his half-brother Mark for a conversation. It is not clear as to whether, or not the two continue to carry on any form of relationship. However, his attempts at fatherly bonding have been shut down continuously. According to those close to Tom Jones, the singer refuses to acknowledge that he has two sons, and doubt he ever will.
Family versus money
Pals claim Tom has always prided himself on making it to the top all on his own, never getting a helping hand from anyone. He also expects his family members to do the same. At this time Jones’ net worth is listed as well over $300 million, a lot of reasons he may be leery of his son Jon’s intentions. However, proof has been given he is the blood son of the singer.
Two thoughts come to the mind of fans. One, do you really want to move from this life never really giving your son a chance to know you, and you the same? Next, you can’t take it with you. Jon claims he is not asking anything from you but your attention and time. Besides, even if he did why would you not spare a few dollars to help your son have a better life?
In September of 2017, Tom Jones was forced to cancel scheduled concert appearances for undisclosed health reasons. At age 77, and in failing health one might find that Tom would enjoy meeting and get to know his son. Sort of a making your peace onset? Then again maybe not.
