Madonna opens up about rape and bad marriage
Madonna recently opened up to Howard Stern about some major personal hardships that the “Like A Virgin” hitmaker has experienced over the years.
Madonna claims being too trusting led up to her rape
Madonna talks about being raped back in her early years as a singer in New York City. Detailing the tragedy to radio host shock jock Howard Stern, Madonna reveals that living in the big city on her own was a major shock and adjustment for her back when she was first starting out.
“First I was in shock, I didn’t know a soul,” she told Howard Stern when reliving her move to the East Coast. “I was saying hi to people on the streets like a dork.” Living in a touch neighborhood Madge reveals she was robbed numerous times, but the most toughest time happened because she was too friendly and trusting leading to her being raped.
Madonna compares marrige to Guy Ritchie to prison
“I was going to a dance class and the door was locked and I needed money for the payphone,” she explained. “[A man] gave it to me… he was a very friendly guy. I trusted everybody.” This youthful innocence found Madonna in a terrifying and tragic situation after the seemingly friendly man convinced her to make her phone call across the street where he lived.
“I was raped,” she proclaimed. “The first year I lived in New York was crazy.” Revealing to Stern and Robin Quivers that she never went to the police with the crime against her because it was just too overwhelming. “You’ve already been violated,” she explained. “It’s just not worth it. It’s too much humiliation.” Madonna continued on with the interview stating that throughout her life she has made some poor choices including her choices of spouses, revealing her marriage to Guy Ritchie was one of them, comparing that union to prison.
“There were times when I felt incarcerated. I wasn’t allowed to be myself,” explained the 56-year-old singer. Madonna continued “I did find myself sometimes in a state of conflict. there were many times when I wanted to express myself as an artist in ways that I don’t think my ex-husband felt comfortable with.” Madge recently made news headlines at the end of February after the singer took a nasty fall from the stage while performing at the Brit Awards in London.
Madonna certainly carries her share of battle scars throughout her journey to success, wouldn’t you agree?
