Top Gun 2: Film sequel plan in the works
Top Gun 2 is going to happen according to producer Jerry Bruckheimer, and the film’s plot is going to have a very modern theme.
Top Gun 2 is a film that producer Bruckheimer has been trying to get made for 3 decades now according to Jerry’s interview with HuffPost Live.
While discussing his new new book, “Jerry Bruckheimer: When Lightning Strikes, Four Decades of Filmmaking,” he also dished on just how the Top Gun 2 sequel could exist in today’s world of warfare.
“We’ve been trying to get that movie made for 30 years, and I think we’re getting closer and closer. Don [Simpson] and I tried to develop something, we didn’t succeed. [Tom] Cruise took over, and he tried to develop something, and he didn’t succeed. Now we’re back at it.”
Bruckheimer gave credit where credit is sue saying, it was Tony Scott, the film’s original director, who was able to crack the story plot before his passed away in 2012.
“The concept is, basically, are the pilots obsolete because of drones. Cruise is going to show them that they’re not obsolete. They’re here to stay,” Bruckheimer said. “It’s just getting to the starting place. Fortunately for Tom, he’s very busy, so you have to find a slot he can fit into and get a budget that Paramount feels they can make the picture.”
Celebrities Tom Cruise and Val Kilmer have revealed their interest to work on the Top Gun 2 project according to Bruckheimer, who also stated, “For 30 years we’ve been trying to make a sequel and we’re not going to stop. We still want to do it with Tom [Cruise] and Paramount are still interested in making it. What Tom tells me is that no matter where he goes in the world, people refer to him as Maverick. It’s something he is excited about so as long as he keeps his enthusiasm hopefully we’ll get it made.”
