Regis Philbin returns to TV, joins ‘The Rachael Ray Show’

Former daytime TV talk show host Regis Philbin is returning to daytime TV, and it is not on ” LIVE! With Kelly and Michael,” but with Rachael Ray.

MSN news reports about Regis’ return to TV are leaving Philbin fans feeling some mixed emotions on Wednesday, September 19. Regis will be making a monthly guest host appearance on “The Rachael Ray Show.”

“I can’t tell you how excited I am that Regis will be a recurring special guest on our show this season,”Rachael Ray said in a statement. “Regis has been a close friend of the show and a close friend of mine for years and it’ll be a blast having him on the team.”

So why did Regis Philbin leave “Live” then?

Regis Philbin, 81, stated to USA Today about his new Rachael Ray gig saying, “I’m not a co-host, I’m just a guy showing up on her show once a month. I love the idea. It’s fun to be back on TV when you don’t have to do it every day. I’m not gonna say I don’t want to do your show! I think it’s fun. I spent my whole life doing this.”

When asked what he thought about the new ” Live! With Kelly and Michael” show, Regis claims that he hasn’t watched the show, because he is sleeping in these days. Wonder what his old pal and former co-host Kelly thinks about this statement and lack of support?

Regis will make his return to daytime TV on Monday, September 24 on “The Rachael Ray Show.” He will also be making another guest appearance on November 28 on the TV Land hit “Hot in Cleveland” as Betty White’s love interest.
